PERSONAL BIO
Chuck Hargis has excelled both in his playing and coaching career in baseball for the better part of 20 years.
Hargis was a four-year starter at Powell High School, earning All-District and All-KIL honors in each of his final three seasons with the Panthers.
Upon graduating from high school, Hargis began his collegiate playing career at Walters State and helped build the Senators program into a national powerhouse.
During his time playing for the Senators, Hargis was a two-time All-Tennessee Junior Community College Athletic Association player and a team captain his sophomore year. In his freshman campaign, he helped lead Walters State to its then second appearance in the Junior College World Series. The Senators won back-to-back regular season TJCCAA regular season championships during that time, rolling up a 95-26 record (47-13 in 2003, 48-13 in 2004) in his two seasons in Morristown.
After his career at Walters State came to a close, Hargis transferred to East Tennessee State University and again was a two-time All-Atlantic Sun Conference member. He was a preseason 2006 All-American and finished sixth in the nation on doubles that year, which he spent as the team captain for the Bucs. He was a business major while at ETSU.
The Cleveland Indians drafted Hargis in the 22nd round of the Major League Baseball Draft in 2006, and he spent a short time in their organization.
In his coaching career, Hargis has mentored many different age groups from 8-under to 17-under teams in travel baseball. He has been involved with Diamond Simcox Academy, Knoxville Thunder, and the Lexington Greys out of Kentucky. Many of his former players have gone on to have great high school careers, with several achieving their dreams of playing collegiate baseball. As the head coach of the Lakeway Christian Lions he has seen six of his players continue their athletic careers onto the collegiate level. In the first three years of the program the Lions have reached the regional tournament twice. In his first season as Head Coach of the baseball program he was selected at the Coach of the Year for the district. His teams have performed well in the class room maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA yearly.
Chuck is the husband of Amanda Hargis and the father of Camden (18), Jaksen (13) and Berkley (11). He and his family attend Fellowship Church in Knoxville.
