PERSONAL BIO
Born and raised in the Nashville, TN area, Coach Cory Felts has been coaching competitive volleyball since 2009. He has coached girls volleyball since 2009, boys volleyball since 2016 and sand volleyball since 2021, getting his start at K2 Volleyball Club in 2009. Cory is the current owner and master trainer at his own volleyball club Innerlight VC. His passion for the sport has been long lived through 30+ years of playing and coaching. Coach Felts played on the men’s club volleyball team at the University of Tennessee from 1989-1992 and 1997-1998 and was inducted into the University of Tennessee Men's Club Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2020. Throughout the 90s, he competed semi-professionally in the sand volleyball arena in Clearwater, FL.
From 2011-2017, he was the head varsity coach for Berean Christian School, leading Berean to five consecutive district titles and four consecutive trips to sub-state. In 2017, his Berean squad earned its first TSSAA State Title and he received Coach of the Year honors by Knoxville News Sentinel Prep Extra.
Cory has three children who all play volleyball. His oldest daughter, Lily, played at K2 volleyball club for 10 years and was an Outside Hitter at the University of Tennessee for four seasons, where she received All- SEC honors and took her 5th year of eligibility at Florida Gulf Coast University, playing both indoor and sand. She earned ASUN Conference Player of the Year and AVCA All-American distinction on their indoor squad. His son, Boone, was part of the K2 Boys program for 10 years and is playing collegiate men’s volleyball at McKendree University. His youngest daughter, Darby, also played volleyball at K2 for 7 years and currently she plays indoor and sand volleyball for Innerlight VC and is on the Lakeway volleyball team.
