WHY STATEMENT
If the sport can be used to bring people close to the Lord, then it has done something. If it hasn't, it hasn't done a thing no matter how many games you win.
PERSONAL BIO
Alex Good graduated from Southern Guilford H.S. in Greensboro, N.C. where he was a three-sport athlete participating in football, basketball, and baseball. Upon graduating from high school, Good began his collegiate playing career inn football at Carson-Newman University where he would help lead the Eagles to back-to-back playoff appearances as well as 3 consecutive conference titles. During his time playing for the Eagles, Good was a two-time offensive player of the year, as well as a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection from 2007-2009. In his senior year, he led the Eagles to an 11-3 mark, which included a perfect 7-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Good helped send Carson-Newman to a no. 4 national ranking and an appearance in the DII semifinals against Grand Valley State. Good and the Eagles’ veer-option offense led the nation in rushing offense that year at 322 yards per game, including 89.2 per game from Good. The Eagles also averaged 458 yards per game in total offense, which ranked 10th nationally.
Good still holds the record for all-time leader in total offense, career touchdown passes, and rushing TDs by a quarterback. Good is still the last Carson-Newman quarterback to rush for more than 1,000 yards and pass for more than 1,000 yards in a single season. His senior year he tossed for 1,859 and plowed his way for 1,253 on the ground in addition to rushing for 13 touchdowns and passing for another 19. Good was a 2009 finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy (D2 Heisman), which is awarded to Division II’s national Player of the Year.
After his career at Carson Newman, Good would continue his playing career professionally overseas. Good would spend five years across the pond playing for teams in Finland, Germany, and Austria. Good then found himself at Cornerstone Academy where he has coached Varsity Girls’ and Varsity Boys’ Basketball. Good is currently the Head Coach for the Middle School Boys’ basketball team and Middle School Football team at Lakeway. Good has brought the Middle School football program its first wins as well as won the KISL with the JV Middle School Boys Basketball team.
Coach Good loves the opportunity to coach but, most importantly, to show these young men Christ each day. Coach Good is married to Jamie Good and they have two boys, Dallas and Grady. They are also expecting their third boy in the fall of 2023.
