PERSONAL BIO
Joe Naill is no stranger to baseball tradition and excellence, having played his high school career at Carter High School in Strawberry Plains, his junior college career at perennial national powerhouse Walters State Community College, and his final two years in the SEC at the University of Kentucky.
Naill was a four-year starter at shortstop for Carter, earning All-KIL honors in his final two seasons as well as making the All-State team and being named the All-Region Player of the Year after helping lead the Hornets to their first ever state tournament berth in his junior campaign.
Naill signed to play collegiately at Walters State, playing for legendary coaches Ken Campbell and Joey Seaver. In his sophomore campaign, he was second in the nation in stolen bases with 52 swipes, and he still holds the career-record for stolen bases at Walters State with 82. He played for the Senators during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, helping Walters State amass a 95-16 record in that time. He was an honorable mention NJCAA All-American his sophomore season. He started every game at shortstop during his career as a Senator.
After his two years at Walters State, Naill continued his education and playing career at the University of Kentucky, where he was a two-year letter winner as the starting shortstop. He was one of just two players to start and play in all 56 games of his junior season, leading the team in stolen bases that year.
Naill graduated from Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science. He joined the Lakeway Baseball Coaching staff in its inaugural season in 2020.
Joe and his wife, Courtney, have two children, Aubree and Jude, who both attend Lakeway.
